Therapeutic Approach

As an Integratively trained Therapist, I draw upon a wide range of the most well accepted and effective therapeutic modalities, models and interventions to facilitate positive change. The types of approaches that I draw upon are listed below.

Psychoanalytical & Psychodynamics

Psychodynamic Therapy

Seeks to discover how unconscious beliefs and past experiences affect current behaviour and these are usually formed in childhood.

Intra-Personal Therapy

Intra-personal therapy is about developing an authentic relationship with oneself, as we are generally so much more than the sum of our parts.

Jungian Analytical

This psychoanalytical approach aims to bring into balance the parts of a person's psyche which are conscious and unconscious.

Relationship Therapies

Relationship Therapy

Our relationships play a large part in our sense of well-being and it is important to get these as healthy as possible. Relationship Therapy explores your relationship issues whether you are in a relationship or not.

Psychosexual Therapy

Sex is usually not a major issue until there is a problem in the bedroom and then it can be a very big problem indeed. The complexity of sexual issues in long term relationships makes it difficult for people to work out a solution without professional help. Many people seek sex therapy but this isn't spoken about to others very much.

Inter-Personal Therapy

Inter-personal therapy is about how we communicate with other people. Therapy around this aims to give you skills and techniques to improve relationships with people in your life.

Gestalt Therapy

Transactional Analysis. (TA)

If you are struggling with how other people in your life are making you feel then therapy around relationships and your functioning in them and how others affect you can help make necessary changes to your stress levels.

Existential Therapy

Existential Therapy is a philosophical type of therapy based on the idea that much of human anxiety and distress is based on our inability to accept our mortality.

Person Centred

This style is based on the belief that each person has within them the skill to heal in their own way and so allows the person to lead therapy.

Psychosynthesis.

Psychosynthesis works to uncover a person's inner wisdom, focusing on the exploration of feelings, thoughts, sensations and spirit in order to uncover any internal conflicts and blocks. Psychosynthesis aims to discover a higher, spiritual level of consciousness.

Hypnosis, Cognitive & Behavioural Therapies

Mindfulness-based CBT

Mindfulness based Cognitive Behavioural Therapy works to enable a separation from automatic responses and behaviours and increases a healthy awareness of thoughts and feelings so as to respond in a more balanced way.

Hypnotherapy & Clinical Hypnosis

Other Approaches and Influences

DBT is particularly suitable to support particular conditions. It aims to help those who experience intense emotions that they find difficult to stabilize and works to help a person achieve balance.

Percussive Suggestion Technique (PSTEC Hypnosis)

This is a specialised hypnotic technique which aims to quickly reduce an unwanted emotional response to past, current or future anxieties.

Eco-Therapy.

I sometimes use the ideas from Eco-Therapy style to inform some of my Psychotherapy and at times myself and clients have taken sessions outdoors or taken part in community activities.

Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy (REBT)

REBT aims to reroute irrational thoughts, assumptions and beliefs that are leading to ways of living that might be causing issues in a persons life. This approach is often seen as a deeper level of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.
